[ Whenever Riku gets home after doing whatever it is Riku's do on Valentine's Day, he might notice a small ornate box left outside of his room. She got his present from a rather upscale bakery, so it ... by default came in a really nice little box. Which made it even better.

But the inside contains a small assortment of cookies — chocolate chip, raisin, strawberry, and sugar. She only got the raisin and strawberry because it seemed like "healthy" options to get him. See look she tried.

And on top of said box is a small note, written on pink construction paper and folded to look like a little card. The front of it has a little drawing of Riku and Kairi holding hands on it (stick figure hands, at least). And an assortment of heart and star stickers. She put effort into this card!!!

It reads:

"Happy Valentine's Day, Riku!
I hope you like the cookies. I even got you some healthy ones!
That way you can keep your figure for all those girls after your heart ;)
(Sorry)
Anyway, I know this is supposed to be a romantic holiday, but I wanted to let you know that I care about you.
You're always in my heart.

[When Riku comes home from his own Valentines experience, he is tired and maybe just a little shaken… so much that he just barely keeps from stepping on the box. He frowns down at it, almost wary until he picks up the card and recognizes Kairi's handwriting.

It makes him smile.

He picks up the box to check the contents, holding it close to his Heart for a moment before he takes the few steps over to Kairi's room.

Knock, knock?]

[ She doesn't know anything about what he's been through, but if her little present can make his day better, then it'll make her happy to know.

And Kairi will come right over, opening the door as her expression lights up at seeing him. She can only assume this has something to do with the present she left him, but she'll greet him normally anyway, a smile on her face. ]

Hey, Riku!

[Well, he isn't exactly about to share either, but she can probably from the lines by his eyes that he's pretty tired.]

Hey, I just wanted to thank you for the cookies. And well… wish you a happy Valentines Day!

[Since that is what people do here, apparently.]

So you found them!

[ Kairi, they were directly outside his door, of course he did — ]

Happy Valentine's Day to you, too, Riku.

[ She accompanies that with a smile, as she moves in to give him a hug. She's in a really good mood today, even better than usual, so ... the opposite of him, and she's just really glad to get to share this holiday with him as well. It's about the heart, and the feelings contained within her heart are strong. ]

Well, they weren't exactly hidden very hard.

[Not that he wanted them hidden at all or anything.]

Thanks.

[He may be a little tired and exhausted right now, but he's never too tired for a Kairi-hug, so he opens his arms so that he can hug her back properly, smiling faintly as he asks:]

I hope, you and Sora had a nice day?

[ Aah, it always feels nice to hug her friends. She's glad she could do something for him and make him happy like this.

And then he asks that and she can feel her heart beat a little faster and her face get a little hotter.

But she smiles nonetheless, hugging him a little tighter because it's the only outlet for her feelings right now. ]

Yeah. Really nice.

[ And she softly exhales a small laugh. Just thinking about it makes her feel .... aaaah. ]

[He can't help but smile at the way that her joy radiates from her. She is happy and that, in turn, makes Riku happy as well.]

I see… I'm glad for the two of you.

[And well… he makes note, he'll definitely have to ~~tease~~ ask Sora about all the details tomorrow.]

[ She's just going to push her face into him a little, still keeping that hug. She's not easy to fluster, but Sora definitely got to her today, and it might show from how she's getting a little flustered just thinking about the day.

And she nods.

And then speaks, a little muffled. ]

You know I love the both of you, right?

[ Just making sure he knows. He's a part of their team, even if Kairi and Sora move their own relationship forward. ]

[He squeezes her lightly, after she nods and says those words, smiling as he says:]

I know. I love you both too.

[Not like they love each other, but it's love nevertheless. That's something he hadn't understood back when he was fifteen… but now? Now, he gets it.]

[ It makes her really happy to hear that from him. Both that he knows and that he feels that way toward the both of them. Their trio can never be broken apart, that's for sure.

So she stops pressing her face into him and looks up at him, smiling, and laughing a little because the smile isn't enough to express her happiness. ]

This is the best Valentine's Day ever, Riku.

[ Not that they've ....... really celebrated it before. But details, right? This is still the best one. She's gotten to have these nice moments together with the both of them. Her two most precious people. ]

[No, they can't; their connection is far stronger than that.

He looks down at her when she pulls away – despite the events of the day he's happy too, for both his best friends. It's about time that they figure out their feelings for each other after all.]

May there be many more like it.

[It doesn't matter when you start celebrating, right? Not to Riku, at least.]

[ She gives a strong, happy nod at that. She looks forward to every Valentine's Day from here on out. New best holiday.

But, she looks a little playful when she asks this — and suspicious of him. ]

By the way ... you didn't teach him any of that, did you?

[ Any of the things he did today ... Seriously, he was pretty smooth with some of it. It's entirely possible that he was just going with his heart, of course. But she's so curious about this. ]

[Riku looks similarly playful, mischief glimmering in his eyes as he answers:]

Depends on what he did… if he impressed you, then yes. If he acted like a dork, then no.

[He holds his grin at that for another second, before he admits:]

Joking aside, Sora didn't ask me for advice on anything he did for you. I didn't even know he had something planned for sure, until seeing you just now.

[He isn't going to claim Sora's romantic gestures as his ideas, especially when they aren't.]

[ Wow ... That's mildly shocking for her. She thought Sora would at least tell Riku about it, maybe even ask for some advice. But he did it all on his own, and did a good job of it, too ... She's proud of him. And even more happy about what happened today. ]

Wow ... Then I guess Sora's grown up a lot more than we might've realized.

[ She laughs softly at that. She definitely ... sees him in a bit of a different light now, after today. It's hard to explain, though. ]

[It's only a little less surprising to Riku, who had seen how Sora had glowed after confessing to Kairi… that kind of glow can't be contained. It doesn't really surprising, now that he thinks about it, that Sora found a way to share it.]

Maybe… though maybe we shouldn't tell him that just yet.

[It might go to his head, after all.]

Yeah. Wouldn't want it to go to his head.

[ She laughs at that. They're on exactly the same page here, it seems. She may be together with him now, but she's allowed to be as teasing as she wants to be still. She doesn't see much changing between the two of them, really. ]

[He grins and nods.]

Exactly my thought.

[Though, all teasing aside… Riku still needs to make sure that Kairi knows one thing.]

I'm really happy for you guys.

[Riku might just get woken up by a bit of gentle hammering on the door to his room and the world's loudest whisper. It's okay, really.]

Rikuuuu? Hey Riku, are you up yet? Rikuuuuu?

[Riku definitely gets woken by the world's loudest whisper. He may or may not consider throwing one of his pillows at the door, maybe Sora will get the message and let him sleep a little longer.

After another minute or so, when it becomes clear that Sora isn't about to let him sleep any longer, Riku rolls out of bed with a faint grown. Another minute later he opens the door to blear sleepily down at his best friend.]

What's– [Yawn.] -up?

[Yea, he's definitely not all up yet.]

[Sora doesn't bounce into his room, although it's pretty close to it really, and he's also bearing a peace offering of a plate of toast. He may or may not have been awake for a little while; something about being really excited and happy plays havoc with his body clock.

Anyway, he hands the plate off to Riku and jumps onto the end of his bed, sitting there with a big grin on his face.]

I did it. I really did it. It was super scary and I didn't think I could but then I did and it happened and it was so great and I wanted to tell you yesterday but I kinda lost track of time and-

[He pauses for breath with a happy sigh.]

Yeah.

[Riku takes to the plate of toast in the spirit that it was intended. He really does need the toast, for one to wake up and for another to well. Make sure that he doesn't grin like a madman – after that conversation with Kairi last night, he knows exactly what this is about.

Good thing that he has a very good pokerface, especially compared to Sora. Not that that's like hard or anything.]

You realize that you haven't told me a thing about what you actually did, right?

Sure I did!

[He beams up at him and then frowns as he realises that he didn't actually come right out and say exactly what he did.

Well.

Riku may or may not notice that his best friend is going raspberry coloured.]

Well uh... Kairi and me are... well. I couldn't get a paopu here but I found this fruit that's star shaped when you cut it and so I cut some up and we shared it last night and-

[He reaches for a piece of toast of Riku's plate and considers it for a second before quickly blurting out:]

And I kissed her.
